"My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God, my Savior, because He Who is mighty has done great things for me and "Holy" is His Name."

We have just heard the beautiful words the Virgin Mary spoke regarding the special relationship she has with the Lord. Mary understands that the entire purpose of her life is to magnify the Lord. 

​

But what does this mean? It is impossible for Mary to add anything to God's glory. How then can she magnify the Lord who is greater than anything else in the world? She does this simply by being his humble and pure servant. 

​

We speak of Mary as the greatest and most glorious woman who ever lived, and truly she is! But Mary never saw herself this way. She had the humility to always act as God's lowly servant. 

​

"Lourdes," this is the same attitude you are to embrace today. You are the center of attention today and rightly so, but never forget amidst all the beautiful flowers and celebration that your true identity is to be a humble handmaid of God, just as Mary was. 

​

This does not mean thinking less of yourself or thinking that everyone else is better. True humility is understanding who you are in the eyes of God. From that humility will flow a desire to share God with others. 

​

For Mary it was not enough simply to enjoy her privileged relationship with Jesus. She was always looking for opportunities to share Him with others; to bring them into relationship with Him. 

​

As soon as she learned from the angel Gabriel that she would give birth to God's Son she went to visit Elizabeth in order to assist her in her need. As she did this she carried Jesus with her in her womb, introducing Him to others. 

​

"Lourdes," you too must always look for ways to share with others the beautiful relationship you have with Jesus. Like Mary, from this day forward it will be your duty to identify the needs of others and assist them as best you can. This is the true meaning of Christian womanhood. 

​

Today we celebrate your fifteen years of life and give thanks to God for them, but growing older is not the true accomplishment. Any girl will become a woman if we just wait long enough. 

​

The true reality we celebrate today is your continuing journey to become a woman of GOD, imitating the most holy virgin by living as a true daughter of the heavenly Father, a servant of Christ, and a living temple of the Holy Spirit. May God continue to bless you "Lourdes" and may He grant you many happy years!

"Mi alma glorifica al Señor y mi espíritu se llena de júbilo en Dios, mi salvador, porque puso sus ojos en la humildad de su esclava."

 

Acabamos de escuchar las hermosas palabras que la Virgen María habló sobre la relación especial que tiene con el Señor. María entiende que todo el propósito de su vida es magnificar al Señor.

 

Pero ¿qué significa esto? Es imposible que María agregue algo a la gloria de Dios. ¿Cómo puede ella magnificar al Señor que es más grande que cualquier otra cosa en el mundo? Ella hace esto simplemente siendo su sirviente humilde y puro.

 

Hablamos de María como la mujer más grande y más gloriosa que haya vivido, ¡y realmente lo es! Pero María nunca se vio así. Ella tenía la humildad de actuar siempre como la humilde sierva de Dios. "Lourdes," esta es la misma actitud que debes adoptar hoy. Usted es el centro de atención hoy y con razón, pero nunca olvide en medio de todas las hermosas flores y celebraciones que su verdadera identidad es ser una humilde sierva de Dios, tal como lo fue María.

 

Esto no significa pensar menos de ti mismo o pensar que todos los demás son mejores. La verdadera humildad es entender quién eres en los ojos de Dios. De esa humildad fluirá el deseo de compartir a Dios con los demás. Para María no fue suficiente simplemente disfrutar de su relación privilegiada con Jesús. Ella siempre estaba buscando oportunidades para compartirlo con los demás; para traerlos a una relación con Él. Tan pronto como ella supo por el ángel Gabriel que iba a dar a luz al Hijo de Dios, fue a visitar a Isabel para ayudarla en su necesidad. Al hacerlo, llevó a Jesús con ella en su vientre y lo presentó a los demás. "Lourdes," tú también debes buscar siempre maneras de compartir con otras personas la bella relación que tienes con Jesús.

 

Al igual que María, de ahora en adelante será tu deber identificar las necesidades de los demás y ayudarlos de la mejor manera posible. Este es el verdadero significado de la feminidad cristiana. Hoy celebramos tus quince años de vida y damos gracias a Dios por ellos, pero envejecer no es el verdadero logro. Cualquier chica se convertirá en mujer si solo esperamos lo suficiente. La verdadera realidad que celebramos hoy es su continuo viaje para convertirse en una mujer de Dios, imitando a la Santísima Virgen al vivir como una verdadera hija del Padre celestial, un siervo de Cristo, y un templo viviente del Espíritu Santo.

 

¡Que Dios continúe bendiciéndote "Lourdes" y que Él te conceda muchos años felices!
